Nissan has finally launched the facelift iteration of the Magnite compact SUV without increasing the price of the base manual and automatic variants
In this post, we are taking a look at the 5 things that you would probably not know about the new Nissan Magnite facelift. Magnite has been the sole volume churner for the Japanese car marque in India. Not only that, Nissan exports it to many parts of the world. In fact, during the launch event, Nissan announced that it would export this facelift version to 65 markets globally from India. Moreover, media personnel from many global regions attended the event. Hence, India is a huge manufacturing hub for the Japanese auto giant. With the new Magnite, there is an addition of loads of new-age convenience and safety amenities along with minor aesthetic modifications. For now, let us check out 5 unique aspects of the new Nissan Magnite facelift here.
Nissan Magnite Facelift – 5 Key Things
Premium Door Handles
Let us commence with the new door handles on the new Nissan Magnite facelift. You might miss it in the first glance. However, this is a premium door handle borrowed from the Nissan Altima sold in the international markets. This is a clear indication that the carmaker wants to entice new customers by offering premium amenities which you don’t expect at this price point.
Thicker Glasses
Yet another aspect of the new Nissan Magnite facelift that no one would’ve told you about is the glasses. Regardless of whether these are side windows or front and rear windshields, the new Magnite gets thicker glasses all around in comparison to the outgoing model. This is critical to enhance the NVH (Noise, Vibration, Harshness) levels of the compact SUV. With that, the customers will be able to experience a quieter cabin, particularly on the highways at high speeds. The overall ride quality is greatly enhanced because of this.
Increased Body Weight
The next point on this list of things you might not know is the fact that the weight of the Nissan Magnite facelift has been increased by around 40 kg. This goes into making the monocoque more rugged with high-strength steel. As a result, we can expect the build quality of the compact SUV to be better than the outgoing model. This will definitely contribute to the NCAP safety ratings of the new Magnite.
Functional Roof Rails
While roof rails might have become common these days on just about any car, most of them are for aesthetics. You will get only a handful of vehicles where you can actually carry luggage or other equipment using these roof rails. However, I am happy to report that the roof rails on the new Nissan Magnite facelift can carry loads of up to 50 kg. In fact, to demonstrate this, Nissan had tied two bicycles on the roof of the new model during the launch ceremony. The aim is to showcase the capabilities of the new compact SUV and its functional roof rails.
NCAP Ratings
Finally, some of our readers might remember watching the facelift version of the Nissan Magnite in the background during the NCAP test of the new Tata Punch a few months ago. In fact, we have been having spy images of the facelifted Magnite since then. Therefore, we already know that the new Magnite has undergone a crash test. However, the official ratings elude us at the moment. Nevertheless, this makes it obvious that we will get to know the NCAP ratings of the Nissan Magnite facelift soon. We know that it can affect the decisions of many safety-conscious car buyers in today’s time.
Nissan Magnite Facelift
The new compact SUV comes with the same powertrain and transmission options as before. This means it gets a 1.0-litre 3-cylinder petrol engine with and without a turbocharger. The power and torque outputs stand at an unchanged 71 hp / 96 Nm and 99 hp / 152 Nm (160 Nm with CVT), respectively. The transmission options include a 5-speed manual, an AMT and a CVT automatic. What will be of prime importance for a vast majority of car buyers is the mileage. The Japanese auto giant claims a fuel efficiency of 17.4 km/l with the CVT and 20 km/l with the manual. Another key point to notice is that Nissan has kept the starting price of the manual and automatic trims the same as the outgoing model. Hence, the prices start at Rs 5.99 lakh and go all the way up to Rs 11.50 lakh, ex-showroom. It comes with 3 years / 1,00,000 km standard warranty which can be extended to an additional 3 years / 1,00,000 km.
