YouTubers often adopt the method of drag racing to compare the performances of two vehicles
This classic drag race between the new Mahindra Thar Roxx and the regular Thar is exciting. Note that the Thar Roxx is the 5-door iteration of the regular Thar. However, Mahindra has not just extended the length but made many changes to the Roxx to set it apart from the regular Thar. This includes the addition of new features, a new platform, tweaked engines and slight modifications to the exterior. However, it still remains a hardcore off-roading monster. For now, let us compare the performances of the two vehicles in a straight line.
Mahindra Thar Roxx vs Thar Classic Drag Race
This video stems from Tushar Sharma on YouTube. The vlogger has the owners of the two Thar SUVs with him. For this drag race, they keep the AC OFF and Traction OFF. On the count of three, the two drivers accelerate hard. For the first two rounds, the regular Thar emerged victorious. However, for the subsequent rounds, the drivers were changed. Thereafter, it was the Thar Roxx which performed brilliantly and didn’t give the regular Thar any chance whatsoever. It is clear from this video that the difference in the final result depends on the driver a lot.
Specs Comparison
The Mahindra Thar Roxx comes with a 2.2-litre turbo diesel mill which generates 163 PS (MT) / 330 Nm and 175 PS / 370 Nm (AT) OR a 2.0-litre turbo petrol mill churning out 162 PS (MT) / 330 Nm to 177 PS (AT) / 380 Nm of peak power and torque. Note that the one in this video is a manual with a 4×4 drivetrain. On the other hand, the regular 3-door Thar comes with a 2.0-litre mStallion turbo petrol engine making 152 PS / 300 Nm or a 2.2-litre turbo diesel engine which produces 132 PS and 300 Nm of peak power and torque, respectively. There are options of choosing between either a manual or an automatic transmission. The one used in this video is a manual trim with diesel engine. Hence, the Thar Roxx is more powerful but is also heavier.

My View
YouTubers often demonstrate the straight-line acceleration of two vehicles via drag race events. However, I must mention here that it is important not to imitate these vloggers blindly. You must not attempt such drag races because they jeopardize the safety of your car and others on the road. In fact, YouTubers often take safety measures behind the scenes which the viewers never get to know. Hence, make sure to not do such activities with your own vehicles. Let us pledge to be responsible drivers and stay away from such acts.
