South African Media Reviews Mahindra Xuv 3xo

Mahindra is doing a great job with its new-age urban SUVs in markets like South Africa

In this post, we are taking a look at the detailed review of the Mahindra XUV 3XO for the South African market. The Indian automobile giant has been in SA since 2004. After 2 decades of existence, it has been growing rapidly in the last few years. Part of the reason is its transition from hardcore and utilitarian workhorses to modern and techy SUVs. The latest breed of SUVs from Mahindra are quite impressive in every regard. These include the likes of the Scorpio N, XUV700 and now the XUV 3XO. Remember, this is the facelift version of the erstwhile XUV300. Let us see what this car expert from SA  has to say about it.

South African Media Reviews Mahindra XUV 3XO

This video comes from Cars-co-za on YouTube. The host has the vehicle which he is driving on the highway and in city conditions. He loves the punch, manoeuvrability and the overall performance of the SUV. Talking about the styling, he thinks the XUV 3XO looks much better than the XUV300. It is definitely more modern than most similarly priced cars. However, he particularly likes the interior and tech on offer. For instance, the soft-touch materials on the dashboard, the chunky steering wheel with multimedia controls, the free-standing touchscreen infotainment system, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, wireless charging, digital instrument cluster, storage spaces, uses of shiny materials on the centre console and rear seat comfort really make for a pleasant experience for the occupants. One thing which he didn’t like was the aggressive lane keep assist function.

Specs and Price

The Mahindra XUV 3XO in South Africa comes with a 1.2-litre 3-cylinder turbo petrol mill which is good for 80 kW (110 PS) and 200 Nm of peak power and torque. One can choose between either a 6-speed manual or an automatic transmission. Hence, all sorts of requirements are met. There are two variant ranges – MX and AX. The prices range from R254,999 to R404,999. The host mentions that the MX3 AT at R294,999 would be the perfect combination of affordability, performance and tech. Overall, he said that he found the XUV 3XO an excellent car and certainly better than the Maruti Swift or Hyundai Exter.

My View

I must admit I am extremely proud of the Indian auto giant having attained so much adulation and success in international markets like South Africa and Australia. The latest breed of vehicles from Mahindra are truly world-class and are capable of challenging any similarly-priced vehicle. Going forward, that is also Mahindra’s strategy with its electric SUVs. We will see it flood the international market with its two electric sub-brands – XEV and BE. Deliveries of the XEV 9e and BE 6e in India will be underway in February or March next year. Thereafter, we will see them in other international markets as well.
