CNG is a feasible powertrain in four-wheeler vehicles but Bajaj introduced this technology in its Freedom 125 making it the first motorcycle to have a CNG mill
A recent case of a Bajaj Freedom 125 CNG surfaced online where its CNG nozzle broke off while refuelling. It resulted in an accident which was captured on tape. Note that CNG has emerged as a great alternative to beat the rising fuel prices in the four-wheeler market segment. The infrastructure is widely developed, particularly in large cities. Hence, it made sense to try offering a CNG motorbike for the customers. Let us take a look at the details of this latest case.
CNG Nozzle Breaks Off While Refueling Bajaj Freedom 125
The specifics of this case stem from Raftaar 7811 on YouTube. This channel features content around car crashes and road accidents. On this occasion, we see the CCTV footage of a CNG fuel station. A person comes with his Bajaj Freedom 125 CNG for refuelling. The attendant approaches the bike and fixes the CNG nozzle into the fuel tank of the bike. However, as soon as he switches on the gas, the nozzle breaks due to some reason and the pipe moves around in the air at high speed due to the pressurized gas.
In fact, the attendant got injured and fell to the ground. Thankfully, there were not too many people around. The other CNG station personnel sprung into action and quickly switched off the supply. Everyone gathered around to check on the injured man. The details in the video mention that he was safe. That is a relief since the visuals certainly pose a concerning image with the way he dropped to the ground. More details will emerge later regarding the cause of this incident.
My View
Accidents pertaining to CNG cars are not all that common, thankfully. Still, this case should serve as a great lesson for everyone to ensure that the nozzle of the CNG pipe is properly fixed in place. Sometimes, such accidents happen just because of some carelessness on the part of the attendants. Therefore, I would like to advise our readers to be vigilant in such situations so that these cases don’t occur again.
