- A Corvette C8 sliced the front end off a Dodge Challenger and crashed into a pole in Nigeria.
- After initially hitting the Dodge, the allegedly rented C8 crashed into a Jeep Trackhawk .
- The Chevy’s driver claims he owes $243k for the wrecked cars, property, and hospital bills.
Racing on the public street is a thrill, we won’t lie. But it’s also dumb, dangerous and could land you in hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of debt, as the driver of the Corvette in this drag race disaster knows all too well.

The C8 – rented, according to one Nigerian website report – was racing against a Jeep Trackhawk on a wide road in the country’s capital city, Lagos, when it struck the front of a Dodge Challenger that appeared to be trying to cross the highway being used as an illegal drag strip.

Despite the Corvette driver’s furious attempts to warn the Dodge by flashing his lights, the Challenger fails to back up out of the way and the C8 slices off a sliver of Mopar nose. The Dodge is a mess, but that’s nothing compared with what happens to the Corvette, which ends up wrapped around a light pole that it hits so hard the pole snaps in half. And somewhere along the way it takes the Jeep out, too.

It’s not clear why the Dodge driver didn’t see or hear the two bellowing V8-engined cars coming towards him. Maybe he was just mesmerized by the insane number of tiny paving blocks the Lagos city planners had used to build the massive road instead of asphalt.

Fortunately no one was killed in the smash, though a man who identified himself as the driver of the Corvette, and goes by the name @Trammania on Instagram, shared a picture of his bloodied face and claimed his back hurts so much that he can’t sleep.
The driver also claims that “hospital bills are going crazy,” though we imagine it’s the cost of replacing the three wrecked cars that accounts for the lion’s share of the 400 million Nigerian Naira ($243k) he claims he owes.
“Imma need all the love & support I could possibly get from the masses,” he says in his post, presumably hinting that he hopes his followers will give money to help reduce his debt.
