It is fascinating to witness how aftermarket shops are able to source spare parts for vehicles which are not even launched
In a rather interesting instance, the front grille of the new Maruti Dzire was seen in an aftermarket car shop in New Delhi. Dzire is the latest product from the largest car marque in the country. It has been revealed but the launch is due in the next couple of days. That is when the prices will also be announced. Dzire is an iconic moniker in India. Having been around since 2008, Maruti Suzuki has already sold over 25 lakh units until the September of last year. That is a testament to its mad popularity. Now that the new Dzire received a 5-star rating at the Global NCAP, it looks like this trend will continue.
Front Grille of New Maruti Dzire on Sale in Aftermarket
The specifics of this case stem from chauhan.sahab4721 on Instagram. The visuals capture the host at an aftermarket car shop somewhere in the Mayapuri market in New Delhi. We see spare parts of many cars lying around including the bumper of the new Swift. However, the most surprising aspect is the front grille of the new Maruti Dzire. It is shocking because the vehicle is not even launched yet. Hence, one wonders how are these car shops able to source spare parts for vehicles which are not on sale. We saw something similar with the headlamps of the new Swift earlier in the year.
We know that the car customization market is booming at the moment. In the last few years, people have been consistently heading to such car shops to get their vehicles modified to make them look different from the rest. While most car modifications are illegal in India, most people go for minor tweaks. They often purchase the lower trims to save some money and then go to the aftermarket shops to install the amenities they really need. As a result, these car shops have established great tie ups and relations with OEM suppliers. Hence, they are able to get spare parts, sometimes even before the actual car has been launched.
My View
I must also mention that car companies often discard car components after testing. With the right connections, it is possible to source those parts of the original car. We saw something similar with the Mahindra Thar Roxx’s body shell a few weeks ago. Therefore, it is critical to not jump to any conclusions before knowing the full details.
