- The Silverado EV 3WT is available from Hertz at a significant discount off retail prices.
- Chevrolet says the electric pickup is good for 393 miles (632 km) of range on a charge.
- Unlike other EVs from GM, the Silverado EV 3WT also comes with Apple CarPlay.
If you’re looking to snag a Chevrolet Silverado EV, your choices are pretty limited right now. The only factory option available at the moment is the flagship RST, which comes with a price tag close to $100,000. Fortunately, if that seems a bit steep, there’s good news. Dozens of Silverado EV models have appeared for sale after being kicked from Hertz’s rental fleet, and they are much cheaper.

All Silverado EVs available from Hertz are badged as 3WT models. This trim level is only available to fleets buying in bulk, and while we’d generally be cautious about buying an ex-rental, most of these have been driven less than 10,000 miles, and they all look to be in good condition. Pricing for these ex-rentals typically falls between $63,000 and $64,000, meaning they’re about $10,000 cheaper than the $74,900 that fleet operators originally paid.

According to Hertz, it’s simply selling some of its Silverado EVs to align its EV fleet with demand. At the time of writing, there were 35 available in the United States, with most located in California and a handful also available in Florida, Arizona, Texas, and Nevada.

The white paint schemes are inoffensive and should ensure they appeal to a wide range of buyers. They are also all well-equipped with black alloy wheels and side steps that aren’t standard on the cheapest 3WT package.
They could prove to be particularly well-suited to tradesmen who will use them for work. The Silverado EV 3WT boasts a respectable 393 miles (632 km) of range and is the workhorse of the line-up, capable of towing up to 12,500 lbs (5,669 kg), more than the 10,000 lbs (4,535 kg) limit of other variants. Additionally, the 3WT’s payload is 1,750 lbs (794 kg), which is also higher than the 1,400 lbs (635 kg) found across the rest of the Silverado EV range.
And there’s one more advantage to consider. InsideEVs notes that unlike other EVs from GM, including the Silverado EV RST available for private purchase, the 3WT still includes Apple CarPlay, making it a bit more user-friendly for those who appreciate modern tech in their vehicles.
