Skoda Superb is a premium sedan from the Czech carmaker which rivals the luxury cars from German car marques
The new generation Skoda Superb has been captured in a detailed walkaround video. Superb has been a niche product for the Czech carmaker because of the category it belongs to. In fact, for a long time, it was considered a slightly more affordable alternative to the entry-level German luxury sedans. However, in recent times, Skoda has upped its game and started pricing it at par (even higher in some cases) with the likes of the Mercedes-Benz A-Class Limousine, Audi 3 and BMW 2 Series. For now, let us take a look at the details of this premium sedan in its top-of-the-line Laurin and Klement trim.
New Generation Skoda Superb – Exterior
This video stems from Video Planet on YouTube. The visuals capture the premium sedan in a showroom. This is clearly from an international market where it is already on sale. At the front, the fascia is a perfect representation of the modern design philosophy of the Czech car marque. It gets sleek LED headlamps with integrated LED DRLs, a broad grille with chrome embellishments and stylish vertical teeth-like slats. Apart from that, the bumper looks solid and modern with that black element. On the sides, we get to witness elegant dual-tone alloy wheels, black B pillars and chrome frames around the windows. Finally, the tail section contains a slim LED taillamp cluster on either side and a rather subtle bumper. All in all, it embodies the Skoda’s typical design theme.
We also get a clear view of the inside. This model features an all-black interior finished in top-notch premium materials. You get a dual-spoke steering wheel with multimedia and call controls, a large digital instrument cluster, a free-standing touchscreen infotainment display on the dashboard, an electronic parking brake, wooden inserts on the dashboard and door panels, rotary AC dials, a textured dashboard, premium upholstery, extended thigh support for the seats, powered front seats, a colossal boot compartment and much more. I expect all the bells and whistles in a car of this category and price.

Now this is where things get a bit interesting. The international model comes with tons of powertrain options. For instance, the German model is available in a 2.0-litre turbo diesel (TDI), a 2.0-litre turbo petrol (TSI) and a 1.5-litre mild hybrid petrol engine. The power and torque outputs stand at a decent 192 PS / 360 Nm, 265 PS / 400 Nm and 150 PS / 250 Nm, respectively. All of these are mated to a sole 7-speed DSG transmission. Interestingly, only the turbo petrol mill has the 4×4 configuration. I am curious to see which powertrain makes it to our shores. It is also possible that the Indian-spec trim continues on with the familiar 2.0-litre TSI turbo petrol mill with 190 PS and 320 Nm of peak power and torque along with a 7-speed DSG gearbox. The prices will be well over Rs 55 lakh, ex-showroom.
