Mahindra is prepping a slew of new electric SUVs based on a dedicated EV platform to power its future mobility

The Mahindra XEV 9e and BE 6e have been released via official design sketches of the interior and exterior. In the last few years, it has become common for car marques to create excitement about an upcoming car online with the help of teasers and design sketches. Note that the world premiere of these two EVs will take place on November 26, 202,4 at the Unlimit India event in Chennai. The Indian auto giant will announce two new electric brands – XEV and BE. Its EVs will use a bespoke Electric Origin INGLO platform. Let us take a look at the details of the sketches.

The images showcase the exterior of the electric SUV. At the front, it gets a sleek LED light bar which covers the entire width of the bonnet and culminates into striking LED DRLs on either side. The LED headlamp cluster is integrated within the housing created by the DRLs. In the centre, a huge grille section is present with a distinct design pattern. On the sides, we are able to witness prominent wheel arches, flush-fitting door handles, and sturdy rear wheel arches with large alloy wheels. Inside the cabin, the EV gets a large panoramic sunroof, light-coloured upholstery, elegant gear selector, etc. All in all, the cabin is bound to be opulent.

On the other hand, the BE 6e boasts a coupe SUV silhouette. Hence, we see a contoured bonnet with flowing lines, C-shaped LED DRLs flanking the main headlamp cluster, and a sporty grille section with a rugged skid plate underneath the bumper. Again, the side profile is dominated by rugged squarish alloy wheel arches with black claddings containing sporty alloy wheels, flush-fitting door handles, black side pillars, sloping roofline and sturdy side body skirtings. The extended tail section completes the rear profile. On the inside, the most striking component is the connected touchscreen infotainment display and driver’s digital instrument cluster, a 3-spoke rectangular steering wheel and ambient lighting with unique door handles. It remains to be seen how much of this makes it to the production-spec version.

My View

The Indian automobile industry is experiencing a surge in the popularity of electric cars. As a result, we have more and more models on the roads each year. Mahindra only has the XUV400 at the moment which is based on the erstwhile XUV300. With this new breed of EVs, the Indian auto giant aims to take the fight to the other indigenous player, Tata Motors (also the EV sales leader). Therefore, exciting times lie ahead for the EV enthusiasts.
