Maruti Swift LXi vs VXi (O) Comparison

Maruti Swift Lxi Vs Vxi o Comparison

The new Maruti Swift comes with many compelling variants which is why a walkaround comparison will be helpful

In this post, I am comparing the Maruti Swift LXi and VXi (O) trims in terms of exterior styling, features and price. Swift is one of the most successful vehicles in the country ever. It has been around since 2005. At the moment, we find it in its 4th generation avatar. The largest carmaker in the country has been able to keep it fresh with consistent upgrades. Apart from that, its sporty appearance and Maruti Suzuki moniker have ensured that people trust it without any doubts. In this post, we will get to experience the base and second-from-base trims in the flesh to discuss the similarities and differences.

Maruti Swift LXi vs VXi (O) Comparison – Prices

The Maruti Swift LXi is the base trim and has a retail price of an attractive Rs 6.49 lakh, ex-showroom. On the other hand, the VXi (O) has a price tag of Rs 7.57 lakh, ex-showroom. If you wish to opt for the AMT gearbox, this cost jumps to Rs 8.02 lakh, ex-showroom. Therefore, there is a difference of around Rs 1.08 lakh between the LXi MT and VXi MT and Rs 1.53 lakh between the LXi MT and VXi (O) AMT. This is what you have to understand before purchasing either of these models. Also, there are discounts on every trim for which you need to visit your nearest Maruti Suzuki dealership.

Maruti Swift LXi vs VXi (O) Comparison – Features

Now, this is where the added price comes into the picture. Higher trims are often bifurcated by the list of features and tech available in a car. Also, there are some aesthetic differences which we will get to in a minute. The LXi (base trim) version of the Swift comes with the most fundamental amenities which will take care of most requirements of the customers. The main highlights include:

Maruti Swift LXi vs VXi (O) Comparison – Specs

Now both these trims are powered by the same mill. In fact, Maruti Swift is available in just one 1.2-litre 3-cylinder petrol engine across the range. This mill churns out a decent 82 PS and 112 Nm of peak power and torque. There are options of choosing between either a 5-speed manual or an AMT gearbox. Note that the base trim is available with the sole manual transmission. However, there is also the addition of a CNG mill which uses the same engine to produce 69.75 PS and 101.8 Nm of peak power and torque. For this post, we are just concentrating on the petrol iterations.

Design Comparison

Finally, it is interesting to see how much of a difference there actually is in the styling. Let us start with the front. I find it impressive that the largest carmaker in the country has made sure that there are no visual differences between these two trims. There are stylish headlamp units, a gloss black radiator grille, no fog lamps and a sporty black bumper area. However, the distinctions start at the sides. Firstly, the LXi trim has black ORVMs and door handles while the VXi (O) trims get them in body colour. Apart from that, the turn signals are positioned on the front fender in the base trim while they are located on the ORVM in the higher trim. Also, the VXi (O) version gets black side pillars but the LXi does not. At the rear, there is just one point of differentiation, the antenna. Apart from that, both variants are almost similar in design.

Our View

Now choosing between these two largely depends on what you want for your car. If you just want the engine and fuel efficiency of the Maruti Swift, then even the base model will do the trick. You can save a lot of money in terms of the initial price and later, with running costs. If you are on a strict budget, you can buy the base version and get a few additional accessories as per your needs. However, if you like to make use of the latest tech and convenience features in cars and are willing to spend for it, VXi (O) definitely emerges as a great value-for-money proposition. With the additional Rs 1 lakh, you get tons of the latest gadgets and functionalities. Therefore, it is a matter of preference.
