The new Maruti Dzire has been in the news lately for all the right reasons including bagging a full 5-star safety rating at Global NCAP
In this post, I shall conduct the new Maruti Dzire LXi vs VXi comparison in terms of price, features and design to help you pick the right option. The Dzire is available in 4 trims, as usual – LXi, VXi, ZXi and ZXi+. Hence, we are talking about the two lower trims, which will make a huge chunk of sales. People on a tight budget will definitely choose between these two. Hence, pricing it competitively to make a case for a value-for-money proposition is imperative. Let us check out the details of these.
New Maruti Dzire LXi vs VXi – Price
Let us start with the most important detail – the price. The base LXi trim bears a price tag of Rs 6.79 lakh, while the second-from-base VXi is available for Rs 7.79 lakh, ex-showroom. Hence, there is a clear Rs 1 lakh gap in the prices. Let us see if that premium is worth it.
Price (ex-sh.) | LXi | VXi |
Maruti Dzire | Rs 6.79 lakh | Rs 7.79 lakh |
New Maruti Dzire LXi vs VXi – Design
The base LXi trim offers a matte panel between the projector headlamps, while the VXi has this panel in a piano black finish. The latter also has a chrome strip on this panel, accentuating the appearance. None of these get fog lamps. On the sides, both models get 14-inch steel wheels. In the base trim, you will get black door handles with plastic ORVMs and the turn indicators on the fenders, while the VXi model has body-coloured door handles and ORVMs with turn indicators mounted on them and black B-pillars. At the rear, the LXi trim boasts LED tri-arrow taillamps, a shark fin antenna and a sporty bumper. In addition to this, the VXi variant has a chrome strip on the bootlid.
New Maruti Dzire LXi vs VXi – Interior and Features
On the inside, the overall layout remains the same. However, there is a difference in terms of in-cabin amenities. The LXi iteration doesn’t have any touchscreen infotainment display but gets things like all four power windows, manual ORVMs, fabric on door panels, textured dashboard, fixed rear headrests, and fabric seats. On the other hand, the VXi variant adds things like a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, 4-speaker audio system, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, steering-mounted controls with tilt adjustment, adjustable rear headrests, USB-charging, rear AC vents, height adjustable driver’s seat, slightly more premium upholstery, manual day/night IRVM, chrome embellishment on gear knob, etc. Hence, the added price certainly brings a lot of new-age amenities.
Specs
In terms of specifications, there is no difference between any trim. It draws power from a 1.2-litre 3-cylinder Z12E naturally aspirated petrol engine with mild hybrid technology which generates a healthy 82 PS and 112 Nm of peak power and torque. This engine pairs with a 5-speed manual or an AMT gearbox. The main attraction is the astounding mileage figure of 24.79 km/l with the manual and 25.71 km/l with the AMT. Apart from that, the VXi trim even gets the option of a CNG mill that is good for a decent 70 PS and 102 Nm of peak power and torque. It comes with a sole 5-speed manual gearbox which boasts a mileage of 33.73 km/kg.

My View
Choosing between these two can be quite confusing. Nevertheless, that is what we are here for. If you are on a tight budget but want to avail of the benefits associated with the Dzire like high fuel economy, 5-star safety rating and new aesthetics, the base trim has you covered. On the other hand, if you fancy some new-age functionalities, I believe the Rs 1 lakh premium is definitely worth it. It gets you most things you will ever need.
