Maruti Suzuki E Vitara Vs Mg Zs Ev Specs Comparison

The e Vitara is the first-ever battery electric vehicle from Suzuki globally and it will even spawn a Toyota counterpart

In this post, I am comparing the specifications of the new Maruti Suzuki e Vitara and MG ZS EV. Note that the Japanese auto giant revealed the e Vitara a couple of days ago. It marks a monumental shift in the Japanese car marque’s future plans as it carries the tag of being the first EV from Suzuki. It will be a global product with prime focus in Europe, Japan and India. In addition, the exports will also take place to Latin America, Africa and Southeast Asia. For now, let us take a look at the specs of the Maruti Suzuki e Vitara and MG ZS EV.

Maruti Suzuki e Vitara vs MG ZS EV – Specs Comparison

Suzuki announced that the e Vitara will utilize the brand’s new HEARTECT-e platform to underpin the electric SUV. Apart from that, buyers will get to choose between two options – a 49 kWh or a 61 kWh LFP battery pack. The dual-motor 4WD configuration will be reserved for the top-of-the-line variant. The power and torque outputs range from 142 hp / 189 Nm to 172 hp / 189 Nm and 181 hp / 300 Nm (AWD). The electric SUV will even boast the ALLGRIP-e technology to enable 4WD by distributing torque to where it is needed the most. To glide over undulations, it gets 180 mm of ground clearance and weighs anywhere between 1,702 kg and 1,899 kg. There are options of 18-inch or 19-inch alloys. More details about the range, charging, etc. will emerge later.

On the other hand, the MG ZS EV is on sale with a 50.3 kWh battery pack. It powers a Permanent Magnet Synchronous Electric Motor to generate a healthy 177 PS and 280 Nm of peak power and torque. This is good for a decent 461 km of range on a single charge. With a 50 kW DC fast charger, you can juice up the battery from 0 to 80% in just 1 hour. With the regular 7.4 kW AC charger, it takes 8.5 hours to 9 hours to go from 0 to 100%. Clearly, the multiple battery pack options of the e Vitara would entice the buyers more.

My View

It is clear that the EV space is expanding rapidly in India. EV sales are breaking all records month after month. That is why the largest car marque in the country also decided to bring its first-ever EV. We know that Maruti Suzuki had announced that there has to be enough demand to achieve massive sales to make business sense for them to launch an EV. Perhaps, it was about time as other carmakers have already taken a significant lead. Let us keep looking at how things unfold in times to come.
