Tata Motors is one of the biggest carmakers in India and it is planning an onslaught of new and facelift cars for 2025
In this post, I am listing out the top 5 upcoming Tata cars in India for 2025. Tata Motors has been having incredible success in the passenger car market for the last few years. In fact, it was even challenging Hyundai for that second spot on the highest-selling carmakers’ list on a monthly basis a few months ago. However, due to stiff competition from its indigenous rival, Mahindra, it has remained at 4th place. To change that, it plans to refresh its lineup for 2025. This will include new products, as well as the updated versions of the existing cars. Let us delve deep into the details of this case.

Tata Punch
Let us commence this section with the Tata Punch. Note that the Punch has not received any major update since its launch in our market back in 2021. It has already been more than 3 years without any significant update. Hence, the reports suggest that we will get a thoroughly facelifted iteration of the micro SUV in the coming months. Note that the latest Punch EV bears a much more modern and new-age design and features than the ICE counterpart. It is generally the other way around – first, the ICE variants get updated and then the electric.
Nevertheless, we can expect some aesthetic modifications to the Punch in comparison to the existing model. This could include a new headlamp structure, redesigned front and rear bumpers along with an overall tweak to the design. On the inside, there will definitely be the addition of loads of the latest tech, convenience, safety and connectivity features to pamper the customers. Note that the Punch EV boasts a full 5-star Bharat NCAP safety rating. Hence, we can expect the updated ICE iteration to boast the same. I don’t expect any changes to the powertrain options in comparison to the current model.

Tata Harrier EV
Then we have the electric iteration of the Tata Harrier. Note that Harrier has been a mighty popular product from the Indian automobile giant. People have really taken a liking to the imposing road presence that Harrier demonstrates. While it has tasted success in the ICE division, we are now expecting the electric version to hit the markets soon. In fact, some reports suggest that we might be able to lay our eyes on the Harrier EV by March 2025. Furthermore, we have reported the test mule performing road tests for quite some time now.
Even though the test mule was heavily camouflaged every time it was spotted, we know that Tata Motors won’t deviate too much from the ICE version, at least in terms of exterior design. Hence, we will get that attractive demeanour with a butch stance and bold elements. On the inside, I am certain that the Indian auto giant will equip it will all the latest tech and convenience amenities. We can expect a 60 kWh battery pack with a range in the vicinity of 500 km on a single charge.

Tata Safari EV
We know that Harrier and Safari are cousins with the main difference of an extra row of seats. The Safari is, essentially, the 7-seat iteration of the Harrier. This trend will continue even in the electric realm. Similar to the design and other elements of the Harrier EV, the Safari EV will be designed with the addition of the third row and perhaps, a few aesthetic alterations to distinguish it from the Harrier EV. Even on the inside, I expect it to carry every feature of the Harrier EV.
However, it is possible that we might even see some additional equipment list since the Safari EV will be the flagship car from Tata Motors in India. In fact, we spotted the test mule of the Tata Safari EV plying on the Indian roads as well. Also, ideally, the powertrain should also be shared with the Harrier EV. Still, we will have to wait to know the exact details.

Tata Sierra EV
Next up, we have yet another EV on this list, the Tata Sierra EV. Note that the Sierra nameplate holds a heritage in our market. It was an SUV which was sold by Tata Motors in India back in the 1990s. Therefore, the Indian automobile giant wants to leverage the legacy associated with that moniker. In fact, we have already got glimpses of the Tata Sierra EV at the Auto Expo last year. Moreover, there were many Indian automobile vloggers who gave us a detailed walkaround tour of the electric SUV in its concept form.
The main highlights of the electric SUV include a sleek front fascia with an LED light bar which runs the width of the SUV and culminates on either side in LED DRLs which double up as turn signals, while the main headlamp cluster was located down below. The front bumper even carries a rugged skid plate to accentuate the imposing road presence. On the sides, we witnessed elegant alloy wheels, flush-fitting door handles, side body cladding, pronounced wheel arches and a boxy silhouette. The cabin will carry premium functionalities and it could use a 60 kWh battery pack with around 500 km of range.

Tata Altroz EV
Finally, the Tata Altroz EV is also on the cards for launch in 2025. I have been reporting about the electric version of the Altroz premium hatchback for a very long time. This is in line with Tata’s strategy of converting its existing ICE cars into EVs. This reduces the cost of development and leverages the emotional connection people have with the ICE versions of these cars. In fact, that has been the major reason for Tata’s lead in the Indian EV market in the last few years. Altroz is a popular product in our market. Hence, its electric iteration will benefit from its existing customer base.
There have been many digital renditions of the Tata Altroz EV by prominent artists. Still, we are yet to see what the actual model will look like. Just like the other EVs, the Altroz EV will also most likely carry most elements from the ICE version. Also, even the Altroz has been due for an update for a while now. Therefore, we can expect a complete revamp of the exterior and interior which will embody the ICE, as well as the electric version. These are the top 5 upcoming Tata cars in India within the next few months.
